With around 800 residents, Sandau on the Elbe is the smallest town in Saxony-Anhalt. Volunteering is strong – but there are hardly any spaces where young people, queer people and people with a migration background can get involved.

Kikili wants to change that: the listed former town granary (“Stadtspeicher”) on the corner of Elbstraße, Havelberger Straße and Mauerstraße is being secured, restored and brought back to life as an inclusive “third place” – with

  • a place of remembrance that makes local history accessible,
  • educational activities, workshops and events for young and old,
  • a platform for initiatives working on social justice, environmental protection and inclusion.

Our role

Bantu e.V. has supported Kikili as its fiscal sponsor since 2022: we provide administration, charitable status and experience until Kikili can work independently as an association of its own. On Heritage Open Day, 13.09.2026, the granary hosted a landscape drawing workshop and a concert.

Support

Donations for Kikili go to Bantu e.V.’s account at GLS Gemeinschaftsbank – please use the reference “Kikili e.V. Spende”. More information: kikili.de
